Engine Test Stand & Cold-Flow Validation
Mounting-bracket design and cold-flow testing for a liquid rocket engine test stand.
What did the project aim to achieve?
The project aimed to provide a strong, lightweight engine mounting bracket and check the feed system before hot-fire testing.
What did it do?
I designed the mounting bracket and led a cold-flow campaign to compare measured pressure drops and discharge coefficients with the predicted values.
How did it achieve the aims?
I used SolidWorks and ANSYS to assess the bracket and reduce its mass by approximately 15% while maintaining a factor of safety of at least 5. The cold-flow results gave 91% agreement with the predictions and informed the plans for future hot-fire testing.
